Pastor Curtis L. Johnson is a native of Greenville, South Carolina. He is a 1985 graduate of J.L. Mann High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force where he served for four years.. Pastor Johnson attended Morris College School of Religion Greenville Extension, North Grenville University, and earned his Master of Divinity Degree from the M. Christopher White School of Divinity at Gardner-Webb University. He has served as Senior Pastor of the Valley Brook Outreach Baptist Church since 1993. He is a former SC State Overseer for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship.

He is the past Chairman of the Board for one of the leading anti-poverty Community Action Agencies in SC called SHARE (Sunbelt Human Advancement Resources).

Pastor Johnson is a member of the Diversity Advisory Committees for Greenville Health System and Greenville Technical College. He is also a graduate of the Diversity Leadership Academy from Furman University.

Pastor Johnson is the Founder and Chairman of the MLK Dream Weekend, which was the community-wide celebration for Greenville, SC in honor of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. This 10 year multi-event effort produced over $1million in scholarships to deserving students all across the upstate, as well as many jobs, and life- changing opportunities for young and old alike.

Pastor Johnson organized the 107 Days of Nonviolence Service Project, which was designed to address the violence in the community. It was also designed to inspire youth and adults of the upstate to embrace nonviolence as a lifestyle, and improve the quality of life in the upstate. This effort helped to account for a 15% reduction in violent crime in Greenville County during the 107 Days.

Pastor Johnson serves as the Gospel Director of 107.3 JAMZ, WJMZ in Greenville, SC. Under his tenure, he received the South Carolina Broadcaster Service Award for the 107 Days of Nonviolence Service Project. He is has been trained by Dr. Bernice King and has become an official representative of the King Center for Nonviolent Social Change in Atlanta, GA. He is a certified teacher for Nonviolence365 principles and practices all over the world. He is also a licensed Final Expense Agent with Lincoln Heritage Life Insurance Company. He received the Presidential Lifetime Volunteer Service Award from the Obama administration.

Pastor Johnson's vision is to build lives, relationships, and communities through the message, ministry, and methods of the Kingdom of God in Jesus Christ. Through his preaching and teaching, God has used Pastor Johnson to affect the lives of many churches, pastors, men, women, and youth. Pastor Johnson and his wife of 30 years, Charla Johnson have two sons, Isaiah & Joshua.
